You, 8 years old, bought a airlane ticket, or took a car and just left

Soviet, KGB people in the leadership. All these dinosaurs form the past have to be gone first. But don't know what will come after, maybe just continue with some oligark, mafia guys. The russian people do not have tradition to engage much into politics, so typically easy for some strong-men to take power in that country

a big part of the people are grown up during soviet times, and wish to stay far away from politics, mind their own business and try getting by day by day. there are some protests around, mainly in bigger cities, among higher educated people, who are more follows politics, but their are relative few and are cracked down at. Will likely take some decades, with a bit less and less mafia/soviet minded people in the leadership.

Whole of the leadershp of the country are soviet people from the 70's and 80's. Dinosaurs from the past that soon will be gone. But replaced by what? Some other moderntime mafia people

A bunch of people want more and more, a easier life, more money and more material things, constantly. People with just 1 car are angry with people that got 2 cars, and those with 2 cars are angry with the ones that got 3 cars and so on. More stress

'Adjust to changing times or go under', like a key word for people on the planet of earth for thousands of years

Everything that is different from the Russian State Media version is a lie

Well put. Thinks will change for the better, also for Russia, but will take it's time, at least a couple of decades

Russians do not give a shit about Donbass or it's issues. Dear Leader in Moscow needs to show up with some 'victories' now and then, trying to justify his regime and staying in power some more time. After fighting his 'nazies' in Ukraine, next adventure may be saving the Russian people from 'invading mongolian hoards', doing a 'special operation' in Mongolia.

If Sweden and Finland was a part of former USSR, that Putin dreams about revoke, well go for NATO, as the Baltics. If not, why do even care?

As an European, I'm not very optiistic about seeing a kind of 'normalized' Russia for many decades yet. Putin and his soivet buddies in control of the country will soon be gone, but got a feeling it likely will be some more modern version of 'mafia guys' that followsl, and that 'open and friendly people' will not come to power yet. There is a reason millions have left the country, and young educated people continue to move away to day. The soviet period really pulled the country down. But give it 50 years from now
