Norway is the world leader in putting electric vehicles on the highways, fueled by their hydro eletric and wind power plants.

It's always great sitting in front of a keybord, telling people on the other side of the world what is best too them. Thanks.

or Democrat filibuster. The whole bunch is largely kids fighting in their sandbox.

Such big highway projects are like 70-80% paid for by the users, tollroads. In general almost all income from oil the last 30 years the government have put in a wealth fund, currently owning 1.5% of all puplic traded companies in the world. They'll do alright. 5 million people.
1
The long crossing south of Bergen, Hordfast, will likely not be a submerged floating tunnel, but a floating bridge. A study report for a floating bridge is expected finished in 2024
1
@Gazer75 A submerged floating tunnel, or pipe if you wish, has been evaluated for Hordfast, as shown in the video. A traditional tunnel under the sea bottom is something else, it's not mentioned in this video.

Maintenance and longlivity is all parts of the big calulations. They look at how much will this cost over the next 50 years vs how much will the society save in transport time over the same period. To the business life time=money. That is both transportation of goods and workers. The government pay a part of such projects, but 70%+ is paid by the users of the highway, toll roads.
1
As we all know, it's toll roads, mostly will be paid by the users..and in the long run save money for the local cities (transportation time is money) On the other hand, too people just travel there now and then, with no big rush, it all seems a waste
1
Time is money to the businesses. There are calcualtions less transport time for goods and people, menas more money made. On the other hand, as a tourist or other traveller just visiting now and then, time is not so much of importance.
1
Just to inform, this is not southern California. It's Norway. Not near any earthquake zone. Please do your research before making statements.

Coming from a person thinking every morning, going from the bed to the bathroom 'something will go horrible wrong. I'll better stay in bed' Alright, thanks for your input, 'Optimistic Joe':) Sometimes one have to take chances in life.
1
One aim for max 5% incline/decline on such main roads. It happens stretches of underwater tunnells is up to 7-8%, but they try to avoid if not a big cost factor involved
1
There are ferries on these crossings today, but they want to replace it with bridges/tunnels. It's the local cities and businesses that push on for this development, wanting to save some travel time and money in the long run.
1
Some of this is early ideas, but in general it's under construction now, planned finished around 2030. The underwater pipe will not be, but a floating bridge instead. Too tourists and other travelrs who are not in a hurry there are other roads along the coast. The main highway is first of all for businesses transporting goods, and people getting to work, and others that are in a hurry) Time = money' in many cases.
1
Infrastructure is an investment into the future. Much of it is built, possible completed withing the next 10 years. there will be no submerged pipes, but roadway floating on pontoons
1
Ever heard about electric cars? Driving on roads? Norway is likely the leader in getting more and more eletric cars on the roads, hydrogen vehicles and so on.
1
It's all a big calcualtion, money save in transport time of goods and workers over so and so many decades, vs building and maintenance costs. It wold not have been built if it was not a good investment.
1
Train is not very economical solution in a country like Norway, so no new lines are planed. Few people, not very urbanized, long distances, rough terrain. Endless number of studies have been done.
1
More efficient roads/infrastructure is not a spending, it's an investment. (time is money in transporting goods and workers) Please do your research before making statements.
1
The suspended underwater tunnel was one of the ideas. Think they now want to go for a 'floating bridge' on that crossing
1
Construction is ongoing. The underwater pipe was just one of the early suggestions. Will be a floating bridge there, with a section of high suspension bridge in one end to let ships through. Planned constructed 2025 to 2030
1
So starting driving from the southern tip of Norway, one are still in the south coming to Trondheim, one have not moved towards north at all? Too most of the world south of Trondheim, Trondheim is in the north. There is a difference between 'to the north' and 'Northern Norway', right ?)
1
Here we go again........Have a nice day sir, and stay healthy.
1
It was just a part of the early suggestions. Think they now look mostly at a floating bridge, with a high suspension bridge in one end for boats to pass

The submarine guy

Sorry, Gods assistent, have mercy. Will be used enviromental friendly concrete. Please tell him.
1
Too all of the world south of Trondheim, Tronheim is in the north. Facts should not piss off anyone
1
LOL...you have absolutely zero insight into the total calcualtions here, but still feels to make a statement) Well, hope making your statement helped make you feel better.
1
@eckpolmick5080 You come with statements, but nothing to back them up. But not bother. Put out statements that makes you fill better. I am the King of Norway, by the way.

The underwater floating pipe was just one of several suggestions. They will most likely go for a floating bridge at that crossing, with a stretch of high suspension bridge in one end for ships to pass. Planned being built 2025 to 2030.

Something like 7000-10000 vehicles a day
