  2. It's cool to watch Jim here and others going after the scammers) The issue is that there are so many out there. If one scammers quit, or a call center is shut down, there are coming other scammers/call centers up quite soon I guess. India is so large, with a lot of poverty and there will always be people looking for easy money. The most important thing towards the scammere might be that we all inform family and friends about it and what to look out for. This type of scam might go down in the future as the newer generations, say born from the 80's, will be far better with computers. Will not be as easy scamming a 80 year old grandmother in the future who was/is to gaming and programming from she was 5 years old)

  3. There are all kinds of scammers all over the world. India just happens to have many call center scammers, as legal call centers is a big business in India

They place 'popup viruses' at many different web pages all over where people more or less by mistake click into, and/or get emails with some links/attachments that is opened, use the yellow pages. And so on. People who have been scammed are getting on their lists with phone/emails, and these lists are sold to other scammers doing other types of scams. Some people are easier to trick, and they keep track of them.

But scams takes on new forms, so one needs to keep updated, and pass on information to friends and family about the different scams. In many cases it's just about turning off and on the computer to get rid of problems

  6. yeah, it's the people behind that is the main problem. They will always find some workers willing to do the job. Not difficult in these poor countries. I read that legal call center workers earns something like 300 usd a mont, will the scammers gets 400-500 usd (while they do 10K-20K usd scams a month, so it's the boss taking most of it)

  22. I just NEVER answere calls from foregin numbers I don't know for sure who is. If it's something important they can send a letter or whatever. Some of such calls is also where they just give one ring and hang up in hope of get people call back, and it will cost a lot of money.

  24. I get like 10 a day, but gmail sort all of them out in a good way to the scam-box, so it don't bother me. The scammers are looking for any sort of replay, like 'f%%% o%%' and then one likely are moved to the list of 'emails with a respond' and there will be even more spamming. They share emails with other scammers, especially those where they get some kind of repaly, and naturally those who fall for scams. I suspect the scammers hacked my youtube account for the email and phone, after I commented for fun on one of their many bitcoin scam comments on YT.

  28. Crime will always attract people with a weak personality, and poor, who enjoy the idea of some quick money. People in general should keep themselves updated on some basic things if owning a phone or computer. It's hopeless when people are too naive, they are so easily victims

  29. I would say victims are mainly unknowledgable, but one can also call it dumb. I think these types of typical scams we see now, will slowly die out as new generations are much more knowledgable, and will much harder to scam. The question is, what will the scammers go for at a point in time when about everyone out there are computer experts?

With these scam call center workers in India, it feels like a poverty thing mainly and just taking whatever job can earn them a bit more money, thinking that the victims just just so rich anyway. But it is naturally no excuse for their crimes. Best thing we can do is keep friends and family updated about different scams going on the web that we come over in videos like this.

  33. I think the SSN are used for scams here in Europe too. When they have your SSN, and name, it's identity theft. Can be used for false driver licenses, creditcards and such. One should not give one's SSN to anybody. Legit people/companies can find it themselves.

  35. The scammers contacts so many and/or send out so many of their viruses, that there will always be some persons responding. Especially older people. Sadly. I would think these kinds of scams will go down in the future. Not easy do such scams towards a 87 year old grandmother who started gaming and programming at the age of 5, hopefully:)

  36. 2:20 ....I got no words. I somehow don't feel too sorry for this woman. Yeah, just send a big bunch of your savings in a mail package, to someone, just to get it over with quickly. Yeah, we don't transfere money by bank accounts anymore, we send money physically by mail packages.

  39. It's about not being scammed. If some of these fake windows pops up saying something like ' your computer is blocked', shut down the computer. Never call any of the numbers given.

  40. These type of scammers can only access your computer by instructing their victims to open and accept some software. If one get get some popups saying 'computer is blocked' call xxxxx for assistance, never contact those number. Just turn on and off the computer

Some might be well eductated and have no other income at the moment, while most of these just seems like simple, ignorant and lazy persons. Usually they want to secure themself a 'good amount' first, as quick as possible, then otfen continue later to get hold of more
