  1. Sad. but there are many strict religious families in the US, can be difficult to differ from 'normal strict' to abusive, especially when not close to the family for a longer period. They possible kept the abuse at a low level while the sister stayed

  8. The police have to be diplomatic and professional in their job, even to seamingly 'monsters' and the worst criminals, and they are here. It can be very difficult to see what's going on behind closed doors. It's not up to them to judge. That's the court and jury's job.

  9. Probably just quite 'normal' religous conservative people, with the bad and the good. The lady ran away from home at 16. One can just form the kids to a certain point as a parent. 'monsters' and killers can come from all sorts of familes, one just never know for sure whats hiding in the inner of people's soul.
