  2. Politics, emisson rules, is a major factor for more complex cars. But not the only factor of course. More complexity means more profit, until a certain limit, to the car manufacturers. It's no good business to manufacture and sell cars that last to long.

  4. The Germans are particualry good at making things complex, especially with the higher end models. But it's emission rules that push muh of this. At lot of crap made by the US manufaturers to. Toyota, Lexus Honda, is among the more reliable and less complex stuff, but to some people it's a bit boring in general, they rather want to throw money after some fany german stuff
