Yeah I guess quite some more houese could been saved by like this guy did. Most people focused at possible grabbing some things, if time, and get away, not taking the risk to hang around. Can't blame them.

Of course, but it narrows down to limited resources. All aviable resources where put up. One can't just budget for fires all over the place this magnitude. That would demand take lots of money from education and other places. There is a high risk of both fires and earthquakes in this place and most are aware of it. One feel lucky and settle down. So tragic for all affected, prayers.

Yeah, I agree. I see several in the comments doing the blame game, 'the government do nothing for us..no firetrucks in THIS place' I think this guy did not blame the officals, just concluded he was on his own due to fires all over the place and limited firetrucks

Limited resources is a part of a society. One could always have more of everything, but there will be limits. Firetrucks can't be at different locations at once.
