@TT-zd6nr The rough boards for sure takes more paint. Rough boards might be a bit cheaper, and they wanted to put them on the side of the shed not that visible. I used a primer coat, then 2 top coats with the colour on my rough boards. It's a quite thick oil based paint, said to last 12-14 years before need repaint. Well, will see how that turns out)

I notice the outer boards on your small house seem to have a fully smooth surface (if I am not mistaken). I am used to in Scandinavia that we use wooden boards with a rough surface on the outside of the house as it is said normal paint will stick better to it. We first put a primer paint, the next the paint with the wished colour. Do you use a special paint for smooth surface, more like a stain, thin oil paint that will penetrate deep into the surface, or there is no difference of the paint if it will be on smooth surface or rough surface boards
