Nobody needs to be ashamed. More women then men these days aim for higher eduation, and this often means move away as young to larger cities, which often mean mainland Europe when it comes to the Faroese. It's same in many countries. The last years many younger peope have been moveing back to the islands, but then they are already married

The main issue is more women than men move permanently away from the countryside/islands, to bigger cities. Many come back hom later, but then they are already married. Most of these men are possible not 'bad', but they enjoyed the best to stay at the small places they grew up, doing 'simple' jobs, fishing, farming, while more women are attracted to 'citylife' and higher education jobs. It's typical also in other nordic countries like Norway and Sweden with large areas with just villages, little people living

It's been said for the last 1000 years. The vikings, among else, where all over the place, settling down, mixing, or taking people of foregin cultures back home

It's a win-win situation to 2 people who agrees to move together, both agreed on the things. So no problem
