Well stated. Hope your comment will be seen by many. I live in Europe, interested in trucks, and must admit I find the looks and style of many US trucks very cool, but has grown on me over the years that kind of old school Peterbilt truck in the video could be fine as a hobby, or some small trips now and then, while one might want a more modern and possible more comfortable truck as the daily driver, to make a living.😊

It's Scania's demo truck. He wants to present a a more driver friendly truck option to the US audience. One can take it or leave it.

That's exactly the point, professor. A part of the US market enjoys the old style exterior, and they got the freedom to buy a new one still in 2025. It's business, give the customers what they want. However, those model are just a small part of the sales. Most trucks are the newer styled aero cabs, with more interior space and less chrome

Volvo has added a lot of Euroepean tech and ideas into their US trucks, and is problably the most 'european' truck on the US market. After 30 years+ in the US, volvo is about at a 10% market share. It's not like US customers all want to go for the 'Euro tech'.....but many likes it.

Correct, it is the latest of Peterbilts classic look 589 model, a model that many customers likes. They got many other models, the modern arodynamic ones that are the big sellers.This classic model is for the special interested and a small part of their sales.

It's a retro model, professor...The american customers got the freedom to buy different kinds of models, both old style and new style.

This model is suposed to look the old classic style, that's the whole point professor. A part of US customers likes to have a new truck dressed in the old style, so that's why the model is offered.

Better retire and spend years with a no pain shoulder, than driving a show truck every day for decades and ruin your health to a larger degree than with a modern truck. Better have a classic Pete as a weekend hobby. Just my opinion

Large parts of the US truck market; the fleet owners, do not care much about looks. They care about the dollars, what goes out, what comes in. Not all drivers needs to drive a show truck in the daily work. They can manage with a Pete for the weekend shows, as a hobby, if they are espcially interested

they love their Peterbilts and do not care too much about everything out there that someone says are 'far better built'. Many drive their truks for millions of miles/kms, decades, overhaul the engine every 1 million km or so

That's the point of this model, to look classic. A part of the US truck buyers enjoy this style.

Yes, the Peterbilt looks great, a classic. It's techincally simpler, potentially less that can break than the Scania, but overall not at the quality level of the Scania. There are quite a few issues with some newer US engines regarding electronics, components involved lowering emissions. Some truck owner use older, overhauled engines, and have more dependable trucks. What I can say, if you where a trucker driver as a proffesion, and operating newer European trucks for years, you would likely NOT picked the Peterbilt as you daily ride. You would been too used to better drive comfort, less noise, easier gear change, easier getting around, turning, and concluded the Peterbilt would be your choice for the weekend shows, and the Scania for the daily job.

still the Us have quite much higher productivity than Europe/EU, which more or less has stagnated economically. And europeans are lining up in the comment sections crying about how extremely superior in every other possible and impossible way the Scanias are, and all other Euro brands. Sadly it do not seem to help about produtivity, the economis, of EU

As a european I will say both the Peterbilt and the Scania looks great, I could not choose a favorite just based on looks. BUT they are different. Lots of effort has been put into the outer design of both. My conclusion is the Peterbilt is the best show truck, hobby truck, while the Scania is the best choice for a daily work truck.

Us truckers are often on the roads weeks at the time. You see their big sleepers, and you cry yurself to sleep in your euro cab. sure, always room for improvements on the tech, but americans gets their goods delivered and keeps the country running, don't worry to much about it

This Peterbilt model is supposed to look like an old classic, as there is a certain market for that style. What's under the cab is the newest stuff the brand offer. This model is just a couple of percentage of the market, the big majority of models are the newer styled aerodynamic ones.

Guess they are about the same price...That Peterbilt model got a low production number, it makes it relatively costly. Volvo have been at the Us market with their Us style models for 30+ years, and has added as many euro truck details into them as found economically sound...They are at about 10% market share....Scania...will not...mean us truck brands...are done..Sorry

Most trucks sold are the more modern aerodynamic style, more updated. Sure, not at the level of Euro trucks. US company profit wish is a part of this, wanting to offer drivers what they think is 'good enough', but not better or the best

The Very good truck: runs in Europe/EU that has zero growth in productivity, economics these days. The just Truck; operates in the US, that have a higher productivity rate than EU, and trucks are one of the backbones of the country. Conclusion; engine+ wheels + a steering wheel, step on the pedal and get to work, haul that stuff from A to B.That is really all that matters

Many viewers do not seem to understand that this Peterbilt of course is a retro model, it's is supposed to look as an old classic. There is a market for it, but it's just a few percentages of the total market. The majority of Peterbilts models are the the newer aerodynamic ones with a minimum of chrome, and no stacks. Yes more basic than a euro truck, but it is what a part of the US customers want.there will be a quite large part of US truckers that never ever will go for a Scania, no matter how great it is, they are very concervative and like the old US style. Still, the market is big and there is a potential place also for a euro truck like Scania

Old Pets are all good and cool. A modern Scania will be kinder to the health of the driver through the years, especially the shoulder. But one got to do what one have to do, for the art of an old Peterbilt. Blessings

This specific Peterbuilt model is supposed to look old, classic.. That's the whole point, to offer to the part of the market that likes this style the best. In europe everyone are forced to buy the one and only newest model, while in the US they offer many different models, classic and modern looking. Freedom of choice)

Well proffessor, that's the WHOLE POINT.... a part of the US truck market enjoys the classic style, that's excactly why those cabs have been offered up to these days. What's under the hood has been updated. Sure, not as high tech as an modern Euro truck, but lots of US truckers have been, and are, willing to let some comfort go, in order to to drive the classic style. On the other hand there are many truckers that do not care so much about the style, and would be willing to try a Euro truck. That the part of the market SCania potentially will be looking for.

@swemx7403 If you live in the US, the style of the US truck looks 'correct', and Euro trucks looks 'wrong'. And the other way around) A matter of habit. With Euro manufacturers around in the US, like Volvo, Mercedes (Freightliner), Scania & MAN (International Navistar) there is a push forward in technology. But it will be step by step, and still keeping the hooded cabs genrralyy, what the US market is used to and feel 'correct' to them.
