So much crap. How can you come up with this guys?? 'Lowered vehicles will KILL you!' 'Can't come over w108 diffs that are not damaged due to slammed cars' It is better that the cars are used and taken care of, so be it if some slam them, instead of being wrecked or dusting away in some garage hidden to the public most of the time. Again, don't worry about it, there are more than enough original ones out there. It's absoultely NOT of your business what people should do or not with THEIR cars.

There are plenty of the original ones around. Don't worry about it. The clue is that the car is often used, out there among the public, not dusting away most of the year in grandpa's garage

Actually the w124 was made much cheaper than the w123, and there where BIG protests from German taxi drivers back in the 80's when the 124 arrived. But anyway, 124 is a solid dependable car, and I absolutely love the brilliant beautiful lines of it. Much cooler looking and timeless looking than the w123.

The w123 will be much more comfortable to drive daily. Then the w108 for a cool weekend car

Actually less solid and cheaper build quality in general than the 123. BIG protests in Germany from taxi drivers concerning the quality back in the 80's. But the lines and timeless design of the 124 is amazing. w123 design is boring.

lol....better stay with your modern car with 300 computers, sensors and servo motors onboard.

got a '95 124 300 diesel. Hope to keep it on the road the next 25 years.

It's about making more money than they could with the more simple 'bulletproof' cars built up to the 80/90's. More complicated cars means more repairs and delivery of parts. Many customers don't care too much paying more to have more complicated cars, if they get some more prestige, comfort, and so on. I like it simple and solid myself, so I keep on to my 1995 w124;)
1
Yeah, advice you to go for 5 year old Mercedes's/BMW/Audi with 250 computers, sensors and servo motors on board

what is so expencive..? These are very simple and basic vehicles compared to the new computer cars.

@nikitis13 Correct, there is always the expences for parts and maintenance. For the record, I keep in mind older Benzes that are 'okay maintained' through the years in the first place, not changed oil for a decade and/or about rusted out. There are many 'okay' older Mercedes' around still. For an older car like 80/90's Mercedes the parts and maintenence cost will stand for a big percentage of the overall cost keeping the car as a daily driver, as there is about 'zero' annual value decline anymore. While for a new car the parts and service cost will be a small percentage. On the other hand the annual value decline will stand for a BIG perentage of the cost keeping the new car, but that cost is kind of a invisable cost to many people. Owner of 2020 Mercedes : 'My neighbour had to spend 1500 USD for a new power steering pump for his '88 Benz, oh my Goooooooood those old cars are expencive to keep on the road!! I just spent 200 USD to change oil and filter the last year. I'm so happy I do have a new car' Let's NOT mention the 10000 USD value deline of the new Mercedes:)

agreed. w123 likely more over-engineered and solid, but the 124 design is just so much more clean and cooler, timeless.
1
@Alex13543 with 'solid' it had mostly to do with stiffness of the body, thickness of body panels and so on. More plastic, less metal on the 124, and more.
1
It's a fine car. Regarding the w123 design I find it a bit more 'messy', especially the side panels, than the more clean lined w114/115 and the newer 124. A bit too many lines on the door panels. Anyway, a classic.

@Ijusthopeitsquick Please, explain to us mister; someone saying a car is 'very reliable', why do you take this as 'never needs repairs' ???
1
@Ijusthopeitsquick lol..run upstair and tell mommy about fanboys that bothers you...she will comfort we're sure

Agree, the turbo diesel 300 is the top. I have owned several w123 and w124, only 300 turbo touring;) And today a w124 is my daily driver. Can not imagine trading it in for for something newer
1
Much sound, no power. Don't worry about it.
