One can wonder what the builders, and owners, were thinking back then; 'this manison will stand tall for centuries to come, like a old Scotish castle', or 'New York is in a big development, let's cross our fingers the mansion will stand fora a couple of decades at least' The owners did have masnions outide the city too, that they maybe gave higher odds for standing tall longer than their 'millionare row show-off mansions'? Feels these manisons were first of all 'installations', monuments', like movie stages put up to satisfy the owners strong urge showing up their wealth there and then, 'keep up with the Joneses',and owners didn't worry too much about possible longivity of their 'installations'. 'Build it, use it, throw it away when it has done it's job' kind of attitude. Most of these craftsmen might not think too much about longivity of their work in a mansion, they did the job, got paid, and moved on to next project.
