  1.  @insertaverygenericnamehere  Interesting to hear some info regarding the history of the village. I guess the initial comment was directed towards people who blame any disaster in nature on 'climate change' these days, while these types of events have happen through history. One can see on photos the big piles of material from past big rock slides at that location near the village, I guess it happened many years ago, possible centuries

  2. yes, it's an enormous amount. Guess it will be very risky to start digging a channe for the river, but maybe the Swiss find a safe way of potentially doing it. Another option might be to leave things as is. Possible there after some time will be built a new access road to the buildings and small communities still intact up there, but I will be surpriced if rebuilding of a new town will be done. But who knows.

  3. Yes, mudslides and such have happened for thousands of years, and will continue to happen, so the climate scientists and geologists will be kept occupied in the years to come

  5.  @mychaelleesly  Hey, you know it all, of course, got it all sorted out. Anyway..you speak like humans are sitting with all the answeres, 'the truth'. Regarding the overall climate system of the Earth, the science is refering to an 'assumed truth', based on the knowledge humans got. The knowledge of humans regarding the Earth and universe, is very small, all thow we wish to belive we as good as 'knows it all'. Human activity has affected the climate , the question everyone fights about is to which degree, and there political stand points come in, among else.
