The romans never conquered the anglo saxon / germanic tribes in their home regions, they where too tough. But the Romans managed to conquer the Brits. Some Anglo saxons where invited to England by the Brits after the Romans had left, to help defend against Scots, Pics, and given some land to settle. Later on they helped themselves to more land, and a flow of germanic people from the mainland kept coming, in need of new land to settle on. So they did not only conquered the place millitary, but in addition had lots of ther own people filling up the land. The romans wherea millitary power, had not a flow of their own people coming in from Italy to settle all over England, outnumbering the locals. The romans still achived to colonize England for over 400 years, until the Roman empire was weakend all over in general, and faded away.

@gianky343 I know the question, and as indicated; the Romans depended on their millitary personell to keep control, they could not to any degree populate England with their own loyal people. the Anglo saxons where at least as tough warriers as the Romans, if not tougher, and where able to water out the local population with large immigration of their own people from the Germanic region back home, and it that way being better fitted to control the place. They subdued the locals by outnumbering them in a short period of time. It's a numbers game.

@gianky343 Something like the russians does in Ukraine; bring their own people from around Russia to settle in the occupied regions, watering out the local population, in addition to having the millitary power, in hope of higher chance of a lasting colonization

The unrest and invations was before England and Britain was a thing. Lots of people did fight for the place, and the toughest was left to create modern England/Britan

@JDDC-tq7qm Well..how far back in time do you want to go...Europe was empthy in the first place, until Africans wandered north. Creation of modern England/Britain was in the 10'th century as England was gathered under one King for the first time, after the Vikings grip of power ended. The Brits, a mix of Anglo saxens, Vikings, Celtic and other tribes, have had 1000 year to build their modern history. Of course it is allowed to disagree the Brits is the greatest country in history.
