@darlingdear2687 Alright, I see. Yeah, maybe his inner dream, I'm not surprized. With this latest mobilisation announcement, seems many among his inhabitants are not too enthusiastic. Got a feeling things maybe will not quite get back to 'normal' after his Ukraine adventure. What a mess. Not a good start of the 2020's in general with the pandemic and everything. Let's hope for a bit better times in not too distant future

Things in Russia will likely not go back to 'normal' after this 'speial stunt'. Until now Putin has sent people from mainly distant poor regions of the country, into the ukrainian meat grinder. If those guys live or not is nothing the russian 'higher class' of people in the heavy polulation area of St pertersburg and Moscow cares too much about, including the leadership. Now with lack of people they need to send out also guys from those russian main areas, and will be more trouble when they start arrive back in bags

Putin dream about Russia as a superpower, and him as the leader of a superpower. He dream about doing superpower things. Protecting his part of the world from a make belive 'nazi invasion', he belive is doing some great superpower things. Nato is just an excuse. He would not dared to launch his stunt in Ukraine if he really feared Nato and think they were someone ready to attack, not a defence organization

It belongs to the past. Europe has moved on. Russia is hopelessly vintage in it's mindset, stuck in the past

Not to rule the whole world, but he wants to make Soivetunion great again and be a superpower guy, doing superpower things. He has big hopes and ideas. But problem is the russian people are not motivated, much brainpower fleeing the country, big corruption problems so the country do got money enough aviable to build a superpower, and the population is in decline in general

You're correct I belive. Much to do with economics

The russian leadership and elite do not see themselves as europeans and westerners, but rather want to be seen as euro-asian kind of people. Being european mean that european style of democracy can arrive, like with Ukraine, and with that a bunch of people in russia can lose their power and big economical advantages. That's their biggest fear, so they choose to put europe and the west as their enemy and tell the russian people they are nazies, ready to invade and ruin the country any time
