It's been well known for years that Putim started supply weapons, manpower and economic support to a group of rebels in Donbass after his guy in Kiev was kicked out of the country in 2014. The Ukrainian government naturally moved in to put the rebels down, like any country would do. The death count of the 7 first years of the war was about 15K, bith sides, most soilders. After Putim deided to move in to 'liberate', the death toll is now 100-150K both sides. Had Putim not gotten invloved, tens of thousands would not have been murdered
