  1. You're probably not far off. A sad situation. I would guess there are more and more of the young ones that manage to break out of the old traditions and adapt to the society around, but possible not a large group. It's mindblowing that after hundreds of years in Europe the Romani people have not managed to change and adapt more over time, and we see people living in ghettos like his in 2019. The problem seems overwhelming. Is it a possibility to try avoid such large ghettos like this, but more relocate people to smaller settlements, well apart from each other, where it might be easier to 'pull' more of the young generation out of the 'bad circle'? A minority generally not wanting to adapt towards the lifestyle of the majority in the place the live, topped with racism from the society around them. Some of the people have broken away' and live a more 'modern life', not in poverty. the people in this place seem to be the more traditional ones,

  4. A 'cultural clash', topped with discrimination is my feeling, without living close to the situation. Seems like people of Lunik IX are more traditonal, while there are others who have gone their own ways, a bit away from the traditional. I'm thinking to myself, higher eductaion. What if the parents had allowed the children going for higher education first, not started heir own family in a young age. Then on the other hand, will there be any higher education avaiable too these children, and what about discrimination they possible will be met with. It's a complicated situation for sure, I can imagine. Both 'sides' possible needs to think some new, give and take, not just stick to their old ideas.

  14. It's just not part of their traditions, genes. They have always been nomads, not stayed for any longer time in one location. One make it nice enough within one's living space, but what's on the outside is some place they will leave soon anyway. girls married and pregnant at 13-15 years, no education, generation after generation, a bad circle. If one only could take the girls out of the families before that age, and got them to school and college, given them some other options in life than 20 years and 4 children, it could have helped the group to a better life. but naturally, it's a inhumane thing to take children out of the families.

In this case these people are mostly happy because they to a large degree have managed to let the governments feel sorry for them and pay their living costs I guess) But yeah, generally, the less materialistic things one have to worry about, the happier one can be (as long one have the basics like food, a roof, clothes)
