In poorer countries like Moldova they don't got the economic to keep all areas of the city in perfect shape, but must concentrate on keeping the main streets, down town, where the tourist, and most inhabitants, actually go, clean. The clean areas are naturally not of interest to Bald, who seeks soviet ruins and stuff.

  21. The Sovjets constructed the Republic of Moldova after WWII. They needed a loyal region/troops here in conjunction with in the East/West Power game. Took som land from mainly Romania, and created a Sovjet Republic, convinced the Romanians that where living there that they now where Sovjets/Russians. Typically after the Independence of these former Sovjet countries, there has been a 'Wild West' situation for some years where Things are caotic, everyone trying to grab what they can, and nobody got any/much experience of running a independent naton, as it was controlled from Moscow for decades. Hopefully progress is mede step by step.

Develop small hotels, bed & brakfast places in the countryside, for the older tourists and families, to explore the beautiful landscape, the winerys.

Problem with many of the ex-sovjet countries is that they where ruled for decades from Moscow, and the knowledge and tradition of the locals on how to run a nation had been more or less lost, so one basically had to start from about zero. In such chaotic situation when a country is fumbling around trying and failing to find some kind of path to the future, naturally many people will use the opportunity to take what they can, as long as the governmental control of the country is still weak

When asked, all people did say corruption is a bad thing, but when people had the chance to gain something for the NeXT day by small corruption, they usually did. they where just thinking about themselves, and the NeXT day, not thinking : 'what I do now is not good for the country in the long term, even it's a small thing, and will keep us back as a country'.

  31. It does not help the country if one get or not what is the reason. Communism, marxism, tsarism, whatever. They just have to look forward into the future, not spend too much time thinking about the past and why this or that. If it was not communism, there would have been some Tsar dictatorship that made the problems and after effects. The point is that most eastern europe countries have had some kind of dictatorships the last hundreds of years, until now, because the people have allowed it. In western Europe people removed the dictators many years ago and developed democracy, more or less. But no system is perfect.

  151. Cars and the status of newer, big cars, is more important for guys in eastern europe than in the west. Same thing in Belarus. It's like they but all their money into cars, and rather live in a tent/shed. And also many of the cars are stolen, relatively 'cheap', without the current owners neccessarily knowing about it.   161.  @streetfightermd  He have an special interest in old buildings/architecture of the ex-sovjet, then it's most natural to search for those places, which is often more poorly maintained. There are other channels showing the nice tourist places of the country, which I'm sure there are many of. With such travel vlog, someone will always be insulted, 'hey, why are you showing bad details of my country? There are plenty nice places', or 'hey, why are you only showing the nice places, prepared for the tourist? Why don't you show more of the reality?' Difficult to please everyone)

  162. One have to admit it is something in the spirit of the people/culture too, that has been growing for decades/centuries. The willingness to commit corruption in everyday life, from the small Level to top level, just thinking about oneself and gain something for the next day, not willing to stop and think 'what I am about to do now does not serve the development of my country in the long run, and will keep my country trapped in a spiral of corruption and inefficency as my children observe what I do, and their children will learn and observe from them again'

  163.  @TheShmrsh  Interesting and different roots you have, compared to most people in the country. Looking at the big Picture, it seems people in western europe at an earlier stage in history engaged more into what was happening around them, who rulling the countries and not, engage into politics, protesting agains tyrants that wanted to take Power. While the people in eastern europe at the same time more seemed to just move their shoulders, look away and mind their own business, 'I don't care about who runs the country or what is happening to it, I can not do anything about it anyway, I just need to concentrate on getting my Food for tomorrow, before my neighbour takes it' In this way possible more tyrants have been allowed to come to Power, than in western europe. Western Europe naturally have had, and have, many problems, no country is Perfect, but the people have possible in a stronger degree involved in the sociteies and development of their countries.
