@ronlacker326 you said you rejected it because it was something Marx apparently agreed with. It's no less silly than refraining from drinking water because Marx drank it. And okay, gender is an identity. Women from Germany are a totally distinct group from men from Germany with a totally separate identity. People from Nigeria are no different from people in South Africa they try to keep out of their country. Race and gender are not identities. A Russian from Kazakhstan has nothing in common with a Russian raised in Ohio. A woman from Germany belongs to the same identity as a man from her culture.

@theDemong0d we are evolutionarily wired, as you put it, to find significance in nothing. We are driven towards sex, food and away from harm. "Significance" is an intangible and individualized aspiration. If you're talking about tribalism and "us" vs "them" thinking, that's something you see with even sports teams and religions. Again, the line that constitutes the bounds of "us" and "them" is arbitrary.
