@amishaggerty A few people may shit on your comment, but I think you're correct. Dave Chappelle said, "I believe transgenders, because they cut their dicks off. I don't need anymore proof that they think you're woman" (I butchered the quote but you get it). A neurophysiologic abnormality is the gas and the engine is this PC-SJW nonsense that is pushing absurd utopian idiologies of equality and acceptance. At some point, I hope the DSM-V expands on this more as a mental illness and body dismorphia problem. Maybe even a personality disorder. But we should be compassionate to these folks, but fight neurotypical assholes who are advocating for this change. This is new ground for us in the West and we should not embrace a mental illness as a norm and in some ways advocate for sexual assignment surgery and hormone replacement treatment. Without the social component, there's a lot of transgender folks who NEVER would have concidered becoming another sex; if, they were not exposed to those who are supporting the movement. It's fucking crazy shit.

@yodaguy6956 I'm all about supporting my fellow person in their endeavors, if it does no harm. So I agree, some folks do really well w the transitional process. Outliers exist at everywhere. The society aspect is what makes this complicated. I honestly don't think the nature aspect of this topic is as prevalent as the nurturing. My point, we should not push this as normal, because young folks confused about their sexuality start thinking that their gender may be one of the reasons they're struggling to understand themselves. I do not think that's a good idea. But good for your friend. However, out of the 3 people I know who are trans, all three are medicated to the hilt. So why are they depressed and or anxious and/or suffering from suicidal idiation? IDK, you tell me. I've been a social researcher and direct practitioner in multiple humanities fields. The trans folks are not doing well. And many who are doing well in terms of behavioral health struggle w social interaction and are socially dormant. I'm not claiming to have the answers, but I have seen patterns.

Look, I am not a PC-SJW fuckstick, but during my 10 yrs in higher education I encounter a LOT OF INCREDIBLY bright women. Unfortunately, most of them were found in humanities programs. For example, a 19-yr-old Haitian-America girl in one of my undergrad A&P courses scored 150-something on an IQ test -- she was in the fucking social work program! That's a huge waste of intelligence. Sure, we need smart SWs, but we need the elite minds in STEM and some of those minds are females and they're slipping through the cracks in academia, all the time. We need to make an effort to strengthen our engineering departments, physics and economic programs, etc w smart female minds. It's a waste not to seek them out. Women do naturally gravitate towards humanities programs -- that's undeniable -- it's been proven over-and-over, but we could get the females who are not organically attracted to helping-oriented fields. It doesn't need to be a permanent funding endevour, but it could be a great catalyst for the time being.
