@iketinknocker5033 It's not weak to be viod of extraordinary ignorance and cognative dissonance. I used to do this stupid shit when I was in my 20s. I learned to not be a dense American. If you want to help folks, which is honorable then do it through a different means. Significant change occurs, due to legislative change, both in the the helping nation and the nation being helped. The shit this guy does helps the world, but on a very minute level. It tells me that the effort is more about him than the people. Is he truly self actualized and altruistic or a little off? I'd say a little bit off both.

Its much worse than the typical day of being laid up on an awful 24 hr food poisoning bender, due to. "bad meat" in America. And yes, I know that American poultry, meat and pork oftentimes come from other countries, but theose placed have relatively safe and quarantined system, due to on-sight breeding. I've had so many friends come back all fucked up from vaca'ing in 3rd word and developing nations. I dont travel.

MrBrenman21 I've dedecated my adult live to helping others, while raising a 6-yr-old and taking care of my 71-yr-old father who is a Vietnam vet and finishing my field clinicals. I'm 44 now and worked in the behavioral health and substance use disorder fields in for nearly 2 decades. Perhaps I'm arrogant; maybe even obtuse w a dash of Dunning-Kruger effect, but sociopath is the wrong ad hominem attack for me, coolbreeze. And "pseudo intellectual" and pointing out where Israel is located, why? I guess I'll read the thread, because I dont see any reason why you brought up either of those. Helping people is rewarding and occasionally some folks are so courageous in their endeavors to assist those in need that it's not something that a neurotypical person can comprehend. But in this instance, this guy seems reckless. Sure, could I be wrong about what drives him? Of course! This man seems a bit nuts though. But in your defense, maybe I should just be okay w a good deed if that's all it is.

@Andreas-jl9nr You're being genuine, not a prick and my comment certainly deserved such response; yet, you refrained. That's an admirable quality and these arenas dont see enough of it -- we'd be better off if the standard for behavior had a stronger association w yours. As for the discussion. First, I'll address the thrill-seeking. There was a day when this type of mentality coursed through my veins. By default, it can promote positive effects in the world. But at the core of this behavior is self-fulfillment, even if the effort appears self-actualized, natural endorphins enhance our mood and act as a catalyst for promoting certain behaviors. I could say, "hey, a good deed is a good deed, why question it?" I question it, because there are other means' that are far more effective at helping these people. The guy in question is addicted to this behavior. Hes not making much money himself and has a family. Sucks for his fam. In short, it one time I thought he was motivated solely by altruistic actions then I eased off the throttle. From my vantage point, I believe that helping those people is far more about him and getting his kicks than making a huge change. He has connections to accommodate these folks with a far more effective and efficient manner. Sure, I'm playing with semantics and subjective bullshit, but I will say, his enthusiasm is off the charts; possibly theres an abnormal pathology motivating him. But maybe you're correct and I'm just being a prick. I respect your point(s) though.
