  1. Why would the doctors allow the old lady's daughter to speak to her mom on the phone only in their presence when they can hear what she says? I hope I am mistaken but it might suggest that she is not being treated very well. I hope she will be able to speak more freely when her mom visits in person. Perhaps something to check out on your next visit?
