  1. To be fair, Thomas Jefferson explicitly stated the fears he had and advocated for armed insurgency every thirty years in order to break up government complacency. Hamilton said Madison laid out the legal framework for, particularly Executives, in the Federalist Papers and they address checks and balances in further details. The difficulty is our government officials create laws for us but are, themselves, governed by precedents. Millions cheered when our last President bucked the norms but it should have been a wake up call to the nearly limitless powers of the office. Because Americans are shortsighted, opponents of the current President are upset but limits have to be placed by the ruling party or not at all. Tribalism weakens our country and both major parties love to see us hate the other side because they directly benefit from our floundering.
