  2. Sorta. Speaker is second in line after the VP, the current President is first. The only way the Speaker could ascend is if both the POTUS and VP were killed at the same time. If the POTUS is killed, VP takes over and Secretary of State becomes VP keeping the Speaker right where he/she is.
