If you insulate yourself against reality by seeking media that affirms what you believe instead of informing you then you will be very surprised by the real world. Americans are not a monolith. If you don't talk and listen to your friends and neighbors, you cannot accurately predict what they value.

  3. Straight ticket voters are the minority. Most Americans choose candidates and not political party. Being confused by a lack of tribalism is an issue you should question in yourself.
