@eane1275 fewer guns nationally would be fewer guns in the hands of criminals. Fewer means a smaller number in circulation.

Guns flooded the streets years ago and can carried around. Fewer guns nationally would be a great place to start, though, you're right!

What does a basketball player in LA have to do with a mass shooting in NY? I thought mass shootings were caused by mental illness and can only be slowed with thoughts and prayers.

We probably won't be able to talk about common sense gun reform for months now. Should we give "thoughts and prayers" another twenty years before we try something different?

With more guns than people in America and free flow of interstate travel, he could find a gun in a less restrictive state and carry it with him. Despite rational Americans all in favor of common sense gun reform, our politicians bow to the morons that think more guns would improve things. Those people are idiots and don't care if the violence can be decreased by limiting access to firearms.

Interstate travel means he can buy a gun outside of NY. Maybe you're suggesting strict gun laws as a federal initiative? Otherwise, saying the strict gun laws of a city or state would be enough would just be idiocy.

Black Lives Matter is a civil rights group drawing attention to violent policing. This is a mass shooter. Did you watch a different video?

@parkerottoackley5587 because I can differentiate between reality and reichwing lunacy??

Since their goal is to change the world and gain respect for black people so they stop being killed due to their skin color i.e. end racist violence, I'm not sure why you think they should be involved with another mass shooter.

@CSUnger why? Do I get input on how to write the legislation?
1
@shawn2683 if I get a vote, I'd use the opinion of a former Chief Justice as my north star. Former Chief Justice Warren Burger argued that the sale, purchase, and use of guns should be regulated just as automobiles and boats are regulated; such regulations would not violate the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. If we stop the gun lobby from misinterpreting the Second Amendment for profit, we can deal with ways to counter gun violence in America.

@eane1275 I'm not writing the legislation but I answered your question. Personally, I think the 2nd Amendment is archaic and with a massive police force and military, there's no need for a 'well-regulated militia' and we don't have one. No citizen is going to battle back against tyranny with a personal arsenal and a family member is much more likely to get shot than an intruder. Gun ownership is for cowards who are dictated by fear and, without guns, they find the world too frightening to take. A total ban and confiscation similar to Australia but more extreme is what a society as violent and sick as ours needs. But that's just one man's opinion.
1
@eane1275 I make informed decisions, you don't have to agree, that's the beauty of a free society. I'm sure you think you're right but you won't be able to change my mind any more than I'd be able to change a core belief of yours. Remember you sought me out for my view, I didn't seek you out for yours. Good luck out there!

You may think a massive, nationwide confiscation is the solution but your suggestion would be very unpopular with the deranged gun nuts in the country.
1
@eane1275 if your gun ownership is more important than the safety and welfare of people all over the country, then yes. I consider a wanton disregard for the safety of others to be a gun nut.
