Whilst in university my TA in East Asian History gave us an assignment, whereas we would "teach" a class. We were to choose a subject(I decided to look at Michael Bay's version of Pearl Harbour and what "really" happened). We were also required to create questions that the class could discuss as an open forum after the lesson was taught. One of my questions was; how much is the historian responsible for the "muddling" of history? My TA gave me an A and, for a 25 year old working towards his doctorate, he was very frank about what kind of responsibility the historian has regarding the truth. He said far too often emotionality/ideology creeps into certain objective truths about humanity.
