  1. People often forget that co-morbidities are often seen with influenza fatalities. The very young and the very old die from influenza due to either a lack of a mature immune system or to a weakened immune system with co-morbidities. Also, poverty can be seen as an "economical" co-morbidity, if one views poverty as a disease. With this novel virus, the disease is/seems to be killing men in their mid-fifties, a group one would expect to be relatively healthy. This is why it can be seen as a fairly dangerous disease compared to influenza, especially with the speed in which it kills.
