There's also the TOYIFICATION of firearms. TOYIFICATION. People buy firearms that they see in movies. They don't NEED the firearm but they want it 'cos it's cool. The ascent of firearms in the U.S. to the level of deification is not healthy. One shouldn't worship but rather hold a great amount of fear and respect for what a firearm is capable of. Ending a life. Any life. The vast MAJORITY of firearm owners in the States do have that fear and respect for what firearms are capable of. Firearms should NEVER make one feel powerful. EVER. Not even the police or military. It is a tool. A lethal tool to be sure, but a tool. I get spooked around people who say they feel "empowered" by firearms. No. Do you feel empowered by the keys in your pocket? Your wallet? Your cell phone? You shouldn't. If you conceal carry the firearm should make one feel a certain level of security but never power. That kind of power should never be felt imo.
