  1. A nuclear war won't end the world. It will end human civilization. It will kill about half the population after 5-10 years. But it won't destroy the planet, contrary to mythological opinion. In perspective, the "celestrial" weapon, the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, detonated with the power of 1,000,000,000 nuclear weapons, going off at once. Humanity currently has about 15,000 nuclear weapons. About a 1/3 probably won't work due to ingrained obsolesence. To be sure it will only take about a 100 to cause the devastation needed to end human civilization. If the weapons are "salted" it means all life on the SURFACE will die and any underground survivors(if any) will have to endure as the salting means it will take about 100 years for the fallout to degrade to safe levels. Then the Earth, as she's always done, will renew. What new life comes about is...purely conjecture.
