@extrospectivezak You have some pretty strange ideas about the way a rancher treats his cattle. Have you ever been on a farm? Probably not, but if so: have you seen traumatized cows there? Do you think that would be in the interest of the farmer? Stressed cows don't eat, so they don't yield anything. It is very important to let the animals lead the best possible life, also from a business point of view. For everything we eat, something has to die first. The only exception is fruit. But fruits are also heavily sprayed with toxins that wipe out many smaller organisms and make birds sick.
And what about crop protection? How many animals are shot to protect a field?
For the life of 1 cow I can eat for a year. How many organisms, insects, herbivores and birds have been killed for your bowl of lettuce? And that x365? What happens to the quality of the soil your grains grow on? You think that depleting the soil is sustainable? Well it isn't, nature needs the poop and pee from ruminant animals as natural fertilizer, my friend. And what does the fact you have to heavily supplement B12 and such tell you? It's time to wake up, my friend, the plant based movement is actively ruining the planet.
