  1. The Meteor wasn't as good as the Me262. The main engine drawback was the centrifugal design for an engine compressor whereas the Me262 had an axial flow compressor. An axial flow compressor engines having much better long term development potential. With only few exceptions, centrifugal compressor engines are no longer used. Drawbacks include less power, great cross section and hence drag.

  2.  @awatt  Maybe its because Germany was beaten and the factories smashed up. The Allies had control of the markets etc. Germany was more interested in rebuilding the country.. Nevertheless my point stands, centrifugal compressors are a dead end design. All modern airliner use axial flow/fan engines
