  3.  @AndrewFosterEsquire  You would need a massive army to invade Australia - a mostly barren desert inland. Guess you would have to seize the airports at cities and land by sea invasion close by. Like Russia, Australia has size as a benefit. But to do so you have to be able to either sail your ships close enough and/or achieve air superiority. Neither of which the Chinese could do, given the distances involved. This is where submarines come in.
