A big difference with this war, neither side has had air superiority over the battlefield, having air superiority will assist in being able to advance

@richardmarsden5610 That is why Russia would be very stupid to attack NATO, NATO air forces are likely to achieve and maintain air superiority/dominance. It was rather unreasonable of Nato to expect the Ukrainians to advance last summer with no decent air support. Its not something NATO would consider as a tactic.

@richardmarsden5610 And thats why NATO airforces practice rapid dispersion and operations away from their main peace time bases. THE RAF have been doing this over recent months if you read the defence press.

@richardmarsden5610 Nope wrong there about the RAF. During my time we regularly practiced deploying away from MOBs, It is possible to maintain aircraft away from bases. Modern aircraft are more reliable than old stuff.

@ericp1139 Nonsense. Iraq supposedly had good anti aircraft defences. It didn't work for them. Are you a troll? Don't be intimidated by these countries its what they want. I'm sure the Americans have studied the Iranian air defences. As for anti ship missiles - do you really think the aircraft carriers will come that close inshore? Without mid course guidance/target information it isn't as easy as you think to hit a moving ship I'm sure the Americans aren't scared of attacking Iran - its simply not in their interest to do so, unless provoked much more.

@ericp1139 I don't see NATO fighting China. The Americans might. I think nato would achieve air superiority over Iran, the main problem nato would have is lack of certain friendly airfields close enough to operate from. Turkey isn't likely to agree, only America/UK/France have aircraft carriers.
