@vmpgsc Small jet. Single engine. You can't beat the laws of physics/aerodynamics

@vmpgsc All very true, Doesn't alter the fact small aircraft equals a small weapons load. A B52 has 8 engines for a reason

@MrCABman1972 Doesn't alter the fact they don't have the range to hit deep into Russia for the important strategic targets or the weapon load. The war won't be won by taking out replaceable targets at the front line. The deeper targets need to be hit to stop/greatly reduce weapon production. A Gripen can't do that. I wasn't the one to start comparing B52s and Gripens. A Gripen is a local air superiority/short range strike aircraft. Combat range is circa 430nm weapon load 5300kg. Ukraine won't be able to use its in flight refuelling capability for deep strikes into Russia

@MrCABman1972 Being such a large country, Russia has the luxury of space. If the war continues Russia can always do what they did in WW2 and move their factories deeper into the country. If you can't stop weapons production and as Putin seems totally unconcerned about casualties then the war will continue. The only way Russia can be forced to stop is either- Break them financially so they can't afford to fight Destroy their production either weapons or fuel/logistics . Obviously the Gripen like any aircraft will do the best it can but it lacks range and weapon load to hit deep targets. Obviously loss of aircraft is also a consideration.

@MrCABman1972 They aren't going to achieve that. The Russian's are releasing glide bombs while they are still in their own airspace. So staying out of range of Ukrainian SAMs. If they send F16s or Gripens over into Russian in air to air sortie chasing SU27s/SU34s etc they will get splashed by Russian SAMs
