Except the women making 6 figures probably have a hard time getting a 6 figure man since, as you put it: "now outnumber men and out earn them" and broke chicks being left alone makes sense, marriage is a huge waste of money with ZERO guarantees. Atleast, 1 man and 1 woman making 6 figures can AFFORD the marriage without stress burden. Poor couples can't.

  4.  @skinnyguy7773  Not always. The concept of marriage was also about acquisition. Fathers would try to use a young woman as a bargaining tool to increase their own stake, be it more cows, gold, land or nowadays money + marital assets
