  1. I think the general idea of the single player campaign, from what I have seen at least, was to inject humanity into an otherwise inhuman situation. The opening shows the semi-fictional last moments of fallen soldiers against impossible odds complete with date of death. So, focusing on the tree in the forest, the opposite problem we normally have with that analogy. At least that is what I THINK the developers were trying to get at.
