@sharlin648 Do you realize that Miyazaki (note correct spelling) thinks this whole steampunk obsession with weird early 20th ships and guns is otaku? He can't stand most of today's anime and manga, especially this whole thing with military anime. He thinks it's all a fetish, and I tend to agree. If you're over 21 and still continue to be fascinated with this, don't invoke Miyazaki's name to justify it.

@BenSTA09 I don't have much interest in a CB&Q E-5 with an airplane propeller on the front.

@BenSTA09 Just for the heck of it, I googled dieselpunk ships. The majority seem to be where someone photoshopped the superstructure of a battleship on top of pictures of various dirigibles. I guess the idea is somehow something like that would really fly? There was also the usual admixture of buxom Japanese schoolgirls and space nazis, just to spice things up.

It's good that these French pre-doughnuts never had to face something like Typhoon Cobra. The results would have been rather drastic.

@sharlin648 I'd say it's more than a bit disturbing. This is what Miyazaki was railing against, that his early art has now become part of paedophile world he has no interest in and specifically disavows. Morphing early warship drawings to other warship drawings is one thing. Doing what you describe and, even more revolting drawings that I've seen, is something else. That's why I said anyone over 21 needs to reconsider what they are involved in, since laws in the United States and Japan can carry heavy penalties if some of the even worse examples I've seen are found on your computer as part of another investigation.

@BenSTA09 http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/12/dieselpunk.html The link from the picture of the Japanese aircraft carrier "Kaga". Buxom schoolgirl and space nazis.

@sharlin648 No, you said " a lot of his military designs on Pre WW1 French kit." His name is one you brought up, not me. I'm just repeating what he's said about this whole gun and ship obsession. He has said he used a wide range of military equipment in his early drawings, the French ships only being a part of it. And I don't give a fuck about you and anime. That wasn't my point, but you sure seem to feel the need to justify why you don't give a fuck about it.
