  1. Chichén Itzá is an amazing archeological site to visit, but it's a good idea to hire a guide if you're not going with a tour. You'll learn more about you're seeing, but the main advantage of a guide is his ability to get the hundreds of vendors to stop harassing you. These vendors are ruining the experience of many visitors. I don't know why the state government of Quintana Roo can't eject these vendors, since they are breaking the law by being there.
