@bigblue6917 I don't think a simple word will fuel ISIS, but i agree it's just ignorant, and probably coming from someone who does this on every video he comes across.

@steveshoemaker6347 Steve, I'm also old enough that many of my relatives have died. I keep working on my family genealogy so that history doesn't die with me. It helps me maintain a connection to those that have gone before me. You might try that if you're not already doing so. Merry Christmas, Steve. At least we are still alive to celebrate it.

@steveshoemaker6347 Steve, I don't want to get into a pain olympics, but my eldest son died at 19 in a car accident, my wife died at 58 from leukemia, my baby sister passed away two years ago at age 52 from a heart attack, my baby brother died last year at age 47 from a fall, my only remaining and favorite sister in law died in June from a rare form of pneumonia following surgery for breast cancer, and my late wife's twin sister died the next day on the table from complications during a routine heart valve replacement. I nearly died three years ago from complications after a routine cataract removal. Life can be pretty rotten at times. I have faith everything happens for a reason, and death will be the time I get to see all my relatives again. Be happy, brother.

Paul, the US military has some of the same traditions. It's is not required, but many officers in the Army and Navy do serve their men dinner. The idea of a holiday dinner is so firmly set in the American military that we have been known to parachute in hot turkey dinners to remote outposts. During WWII the Navy had refrigerated cargo vessels that did nothing but transport frozen turkeys and hams with all the trimmings, fresh vegetables, and most importantly to the sailors, milk, Cokes, and smokes. The transport crews became experts at transferring all of this to vessels while underway, and it was a rare sailor on Thanksgiving or Christmas that didn't get a hot traditional American feast. [Edited for my usual typos]

@steveshoemaker6347 Thanks, Steve and same to you. I like to think that whatever smarts I've gained I pass it along to other before I kick the bucket. Maybe we are only meant to get so smart or so wise before we drive everyone else nuts! :-)

@steveshoemaker6347 LOL. I imagine we drive some people nuts without ever trying. Ex-wives tend ot be a little nutty anyway.

@peterk8909 Thanks, Peter, and, and Tiny Tim said on that Christmas Eve of 1843, "God bless us, every one". :-)
