  1. Local news in the US rarely report misdemeanor crimes. There are just too many (and they aren't that interesting in a news sense) to squeeze into a half hour or hour's worth of news. They report on felony crimes, and generally violent crimes at that. Surely they can't be suggesting the "news" stop reporting the ID of a suspect running around their community shooting people, do they?
