Madison, Oxford, and West Point are much safer towns than Meridian. Meridian has consistently come in among the top five mast dangerous cities in the state, particularly for violent crimes, although property crimes are also high. It's not as bad as Jackson or Pascagoula but it's near the worst. There are many cities more pleasant to live in than Meridian. It also has one of the highest rates of fatal tornadoes in the state.

From the NWS tornado database. Note I said fatal, not the number of tornadoes. And of course how dangerous depends on where "u" (Phew. Saved two keystrokes there) live. Even Detroit, rated as the 2017 city that was the most dangerous in the country, has nice neighborhoods

WTF are you talking about? Meridian had 49,000 people in 1960. It's now down to 39,000. The city is 62% black. Look up how many cities of this size that are more than 50% black that are still growing. There is no chance for Meridian to grow without an influx of middle class whites or black, and that's not going to happen. The city is always in the top 5 for Mississippi's most dangerous cities. Drugs and gangs are already taking over Meridian. If you don't mind that, Meridian has some of the cheapest housing in the country. I'm going to assume you were on some kind of mind altering substance when you wrote that.
