Palmer Woods is a beautiful area of Detroit where residents ech pay a monthly fee to provide a 24 hour security patrol in hopes they can stop the local criminals from carrying off all their stuff. They had to start doing this because Detroit PD is so underfunded and undermanned that residents have to go to the police station to fill out paperwork for a report if they need one for non-violent crimes. This relatively small area is about 1/4 mile from the intersection of Bauman and Annin streets. Enter that in Google Streets and you'll see why Palmer Woods needs full-time security. I'm surprised Charlie didn't get stopped. [EDIT] The first five minutes is in the University District, south across 7 Mile from Palmer Woods. It's another beautiful area of Detroit, but nowhere near as wealthy as Palmer Woods. You can tell when you enter Palmer Woods because of the decorative post streetlights, something the residents pay for as well, since Detroit only has streetlights at intersections or the middle of long blocks. You can see how relatively dark it is on the University District streets by comparison.
