  1. Lyme Bay was one of those military disasters that, while it cost lives, ultimately saved many lives when the actual landing took place. There is reasonably good evidence that D-Day would have failed if we hadn't learned the lessons of Lyme Bay. RIP to all those who died, including my uncle, to secure freedom for us.
