@juststeve5542 Indeed. The Soviets initially didn't want women in combat because of their WWI experiences. Between all the men lost in combat the female non-combatant deaths, plus Uncle Joe's purges, it was impossible to grow the population. Stalin wanted women at home to produce babies when Igor came on his infrequent leaves, It was only after the Soviets grew desperate that they allowed women in specialized combat roles like the snipers and a few fighterb regiments. BY 1944 it was obvious the Germans were going to lose, and Ivan was able to get more leave than in 1942. Stalin ordered almost all the women withdrawn from combat so they could fulfill what Joe felt was their natural function instead of shooting at Nazis.
