  9. If you can't live for three days eating from the fridge, the freezer, and your pantry, you're doing something wrong. You should always have at least five days worth of food, and most people will have that just by getting to all that stuff in the back of the fridge and freezer for the food you've bought but didn't really like. It may not be great food, but it will keep you alive. If you don't have a gas stove. buy a Coleman propane stove so you can cook that food and make some coffee. This should not be that big of an emergency.

The mall was being evacuated as a precaution, not because there was an active shooter in the mall or even that it was likely there would be. Multiple gunmen is a situation like this is a vanishingly rare occurrence. My point was these people weren't fleeing because they were hearing gunshots. They were being evacuated in an orderly fashion. They were told to keep their hands in the air as standard operating procedure. Instead of doing just that, I saw a number of people messing with their phones and trying to hold them up real high to get a good video. Something like a Samsung 10 in a black case can look remarkably like you've got a gun. Put the phone in your pocket or purse and let the police see your hands, and that you have nothing in your hands..Get it now? And Chrome underlines misspelled words. Not hard to fix if you give a crap.

  18.  @mizer451  As a retired police officer, I probably have a better idea than you do about what happens after a self defense shooting. In the case of a shooting, you're not innocent until proven guilty. You're guilty unless you can prove another reasonable person in your situation would have been in such fear for his life or serious physical harm that he too would have shot the suspect. All the DA has to do is prove is you shot someone. You have to prove the shooting was justified. Just remember that there's a better than even chance today shat everything you say and do before and after the shooting is going to be on video. You'd better know in your heart that you had no other reasonable choice but to fire and be prepared to prove it, and sometimes before a hostile prosecutor and jury. Even getting acquitted in criminal court is just the beginning of a long and costly nightmare. Read about the life of George Zimmerman since the verdict and see if that sounds good to you.

I'm kind of an amatuer meteorologist (although I did take a couple of meteorology courses in college before I figured out I'd never pass the physics courses) and have been following hurricanes since I was tracking them on a plastic coated map with a grease pencil. We will never have the ability to control weather of any kind, let alone the most powerful and long lived storms on earth. If you're like Florida Man and choose to live in a mobile home park near the coast, the only safe thing to do is evacuate. It's not up to the taxpayer to find ways to make you safe when you decided to make sketchy life choices.

Why does she sound like she was mostly educated in Mogadishu? Why does she sound like an eighth grader when she's reading from a speech that she, in theory, wrote. as if it's the first time she's ever seen it? Why does she speak with this weird sort of North African/Arabic accent but still uses the vernacular pronunciation of "importance"?   50. Children under 20 run a tiny risk of catching the virus, and an equally tiny risk of getting seriously ill or dying if they do happen to get it. Any teacher that feels at risk can Zoom in to classes, but don't keep schools closed in the face of a minuscule threat of a specific disease.
