Was there a speed limit then? The vehicle looks like it's going really fast in some of those shots.

A lifetime driving license? Here in the US, my license expires every five years. That minister was a twat. Public transport thrives when it's faster, more convenient, safer, and cheaper than driving a car. The minister, with his posh accent, seemed like he was fine with taxing the crap out of cars and petrol to force drivers out of their cars. Compulsory seat belts are now a feature in all of the western world. I'm sure much to the minister's dismay, Wales now has motorways, allowing the lower classes to get London and see the Queen.

@jusb1066 What paperwork is involved in renewing a lifetime license?

Germans are now a race? Is there anything you leftists don't see through the lens of race? Amazingly, you still don't seem to have a clue why Labour was thrown under a very large bus and then backed over several times.

@Hitogokochi When did I say I wanted to help you? You've dug your own hole, so you have to dig your own way out. BTW. there are British forces in Iraq as well, so let's nit get too smug.

In three years that first caravan will have fallen completely to pieces.

@mobilechikane8574 In 1973, when the UK entered in the EEC, the British auto industry was still the third largest in the world. In 2019, the British auto industry was the #13 after Thailand. With the exception of a few small companies, there no more British owned car companies. There are no British aircraft companies. Now, not all of this industrial decline wasn't due to the EEC/EU, but Britain certainly wasn't helped by them.

@BMC You must be reading a UAE economic report, otherwise known as you're full of shit. Oil and gas are still 26% od GDP. The same sectors contribute 36% of government revenues, and the introduction of VAT added another 6% UAE population is 9.5 million, but only about 11.5% of them are native Emiratis and citizens. Except for a few select people, it's nearly impossible to become a citizen and enjoy the benefits the UAE extends to citizens. Another significant source of government revenue is the taxes levied on remittances by non-citizens. The UAE imports everyone needed for manual labor, and most Emiratis either don't work or will only stoop to white color jobs. As a result of this, Emiratis are some of the most obese people in the world, with 32% of the native population classed as obese. Non-citizens are not allowed to join labor unions and have no protection under UAE labor laws. Finally, the UAE us seventh richest country in the world by GDP per capita, coming in right after Ireland. Not much of a prize for a country with the seventh largest oil deposits in the world. Now get lost until you decide to quit lying.
1
@BMC Your combination of defective understanding about what the GDP measures and misplaced nationalism has caused you to lie about oil's role in the UAE GDP not once, but twice. The article you linked to mentions nothing about a 1% oil contribution. However, since I don't rely on Wikipedia for anything, how about numbers right from the source - The UAE Embassy in DC? "As a mainstay to the economy, oil exports now account for about 30 percent of total UAE gross domestic product." https://www.uae-embassy.org/about-uae/uae-economy With that, I'm done with you. Anyone calling me a racist for a simple recitation of facts is not worth any more of my time.
1
@BMC And you still don't understand the difference between production and exports. You expect me to believe the export of oil went from 30% of GDP to 1% is less than six years? Maybe you should ring up the embassy and ask them. There is no point in discussing this any farther with a nationalist who will not accept any evidence that contradicts your fantasy. Goodbye.

You mean 20 seconds of a 59 second clip that's silent. A steam train with no sound isn't much worth watching.
1
@gmg9010 Right, but title wasn't "Mount Snowdon Scenery", was it? I'd expect to see mostly what was in the title.
1
That could just as easily be the telephone company or some civilian call center trying to sell you a vacuum cleaner warranty. I would be helpful if you'd provide some context to things that were happening almost 60 years ago now.

@RockMonster1000 I blame coronavirus...

@79devo Although filming it on a sunny day would have helped not make it look like an abandoned factory site.

supernumery Do you think I wasn't a fully sentient human being in 1982? Do you think I wasn't actually watching TV then? We had 12 VHF and 69 UHF channels available. Do you think that combination wasn't enough to provide 8 TV channels. There were actually 16 Los Angeles channels on the air on October 1, 1982. That doesn't count a couple more channels from places like Santa Barbara and San Bernardino that were receivable with a good antenna system, and even XETV out of Tijuana that I was able to get when conditions were right. Just as a suggestion, the next time you want to type a lot of nonsense you know nothing about, open up Notepad and have at it. It's better than looking like an idiot on here. And, at least on this side of the pond, we have Carfax. Tells you the last time someone spilled a coffee on the carpet or if it was ever totalled. Is there not something like that over there now?
1
All those prices sound cheap today.
1
@indiekid74 Possibly, but one two second shot of a police car not even a single police officer just talking to all those people on the street...well, they could have just as easily been "patrolling" from a taxi.
1
I agree. I can hardly understand it at all.
1
@nkt1 No, but the idea there should be some kind of law to limit the types of tyres smacks a wee bit of socialism, eh?
1
@nkt1 So why bring up a product that has zero demand except as a strawman? Do you think the numbers and types of tyres available today are any less than in 1977? Any problem getting a tyre today, even for long obsolete cars, from a dealer or available online? I rather doubt it, so something obviously changed. There was a temporary shortage of certain types of tyres, but the gentleman from the tyre dealer's association said they could get them with enough notice. Doesn't seem like a big crisis.

Being an American, I have no idea what most of these kids are saying. I don't know if that's a good thing.
1
@bootchop88 Holy shit! Did you have to think a long time before you came up with that or did it just pop out?
1
What a waste. Show the whole thing or nothing.

He couldn't have dented the caravan. The worst he could do was put a ding in the fiberglass cover over the propane tank, and I didn't even see evidence of that.
1
@kamrankhan-lj1ng Everyone looks like they are going too fast at times. I can't tell if that's real or an artifacts of the camera though.
1
@pneron2032 Guess what? When you don't own a place, it's not your choice if you want to stay put. Life is hard.
1
@MrThecarebear And? We have GP7s and GP9s still in service that are now between 65 and 70 years old. What has this got to do with running a socialist or capitalist railroad?
1
Thirty seconds? You couldn't find more that 30 seconds worth of this program?
1
@richardtheeighth4431 Fremantle owns the rights to all of the former Thames programming. Why would I have to pay them a license to watch what they already own?
1
@richardtheeighth4431 That usually the kind of licensing demanded for commercial use. An outlet like The History Channel, for example, that wanted to show a complete episode would have to pay, the amount generally predicated on the size of audience. I don't think this is for individuals. They have shown complete episodes of programs like TV Eye. Maybe these are just 30 second commercials to attract outlets that might license them. If so, I wish they're say that in the title, although it's hard for me to understand how silent 30 second clips with no context for the complete show would attract anyone.
