And now it's 2019 and the US is almost self sufficient in oil. The Arabs did us a huge favor by cutting off the oil. It lead to us prospecting and developing new source of oil that we wouldn't have done without the embargo. So thanks a lot, Saudi Arabia, Have fun trying to sell all that sand.

@BMC You must be reading a UAE economic report, otherwise known as you're full of shit. Oil and gas are still 26% od GDP. The same sectors contribute 36% of government revenues, and the introduction of VAT added another 6% UAE population is 9.5 million, but only about 11.5% of them are native Emiratis and citizens. Except for a few select people, it's nearly impossible to become a citizen and enjoy the benefits the UAE extends to citizens. Another significant source of government revenue is the taxes levied on remittances by non-citizens. The UAE imports everyone needed for manual labor, and most Emiratis either don't work or will only stoop to white color jobs. As a result of this, Emiratis are some of the most obese people in the world, with 32% of the native population classed as obese. Non-citizens are not allowed to join labor unions and have no protection under UAE labor laws. Finally, the UAE us seventh richest country in the world by GDP per capita, coming in right after Ireland. Not much of a prize for a country with the seventh largest oil deposits in the world. Now get lost until you decide to quit lying.

@BMC Your combination of defective understanding about what the GDP measures and misplaced nationalism has caused you to lie about oil's role in the UAE GDP not once, but twice. The article you linked to mentions nothing about a 1% oil contribution. However, since I don't rely on Wikipedia for anything, how about numbers right from the source - The UAE Embassy in DC? "As a mainstay to the economy, oil exports now account for about 30 percent of total UAE gross domestic product." https://www.uae-embassy.org/about-uae/uae-economy With that, I'm done with you. Anyone calling me a racist for a simple recitation of facts is not worth any more of my time.

@BMC And you still don't understand the difference between production and exports. You expect me to believe the export of oil went from 30% of GDP to 1% is less than six years? Maybe you should ring up the embassy and ask them. There is no point in discussing this any farther with a nationalist who will not accept any evidence that contradicts your fantasy. Goodbye.
