  1. Amazon didn't pay zero dollars in taxes. The paid no federal corporate income taxes because the Trump tax cuts rebated to Amazon the federal taxes they would have paid. They paid almost $400 billion in state and local taxes. Don't get on the AOC bandwagon about this. Amazon is one of the few major companies that is totally dependent on consumers voluntarily spending their money with them.

  2. I don't think things in the US are this bleak. It's the people who can't live without Starbucks and Whole Foods and people who spend way too much time on the internet that are feeling this dark. Folks in Nebraska, Alabama, and Montana have lives to lead and they get on with. We are doing entirely too much navel gazing.
