@aixamagr2897 Right. Working at your parent's business doesn't mean you know squat about to run a business. She's merely less insane about some thing the Dems support while being on board with spending even more money we don't have.

Correct. Assuming that restaurant was successful, one of the reasons why was free child labor, something she'd never support otherwise. It has nothing to do with an concept of running a business. As far as I can tell, she has never held a private sector job in her life.

erik r A lot of guys here are spending too much time looking at her body and not enough time listening to what she says.

@OneTrippin LOL. Did you ever work in a family business? I kind of doubt it. My family owned a bakery. I was mostly paid in donuts and pocket change until I was 17, when I got an actual paying job elsewhere.

@OneTrippin Far more use their kids for free or low cost labor than pay them the same as other employees. You apparently worked in an unusual grocery store.

Sorry, Gabbi, but it is hypocritical to decriminalize use while maintaining the war against drugs, which has always been primarily against sellers. She's not any more honest about many of these issues, including giving out free money to everyone who bellies up to the bar. There are an awful lot of thirsty incels supporting her just because she's a babe, but she's no better than the rest of the Democrats.

@mohnjayer I agree. Redistribution of wealth by the government owning the means of production is the definition of socialism. Taking over healthcare and health insurance are the first steps down that road.

@MegaTeeruk Yep, the highest rates of utilization are seen with Medicaid patients or aliens using the ER who know they'll never have to pay. Every single transaction should come with a cost, even if it's only a dollar. These Dems, including Gabbard, know in their heart that medicare for all is totally unworkable and will bankrupt the country. They are just hoping to sucker enough people into voting for them before they tell you this is really obamacare 2.0. I always expect politicians to bend the truth while on the stump, but this is the first time I've seen the entire field telling outright lies.

@hertzair1186 Cool. Nice to find an honest commenter here.

@MegaTeeruk Or at least allow health insurers to compete across state lines like car insurers do now. That alone would decrease the cost of insurance with no federal government intervention.
2
@MegaTeeruk Another ball of wax that may be, but it's the easiest and most effective way to reduce insurance costs.
2
@MegaTeeruk I was a nursing home administrator so I'm only too familiar with federal reimbursement. Costco also only has a tiny profit margin. They make a profit by spreading that margin over hundreds of stores. You're not seriously saying my car insurance would cost the same if I was forced to buy it from Blue Cross, are you?
2
@MegaTeeruk Well, I'll take small. And the market price is not totally fixed. We have hospitals and doctors now that will either pay part or all of a deductible for patients ot increase their patient counts and census. However, in my ideal world., we'd all be private pay, with an increasing amount of required catastrophic coverage for older patients and lower income patients.

@robertlockey75 Dude! This is what every presidential candidate in modern times has said. It means nothing. The most important things are what she says here policies are now because you can bet they will only get worse the longer they are in office. With the exception of her at least saying she wants to get out of foreign wars (even though she had no problem going overseas to fight in one), the rest of her policies are no different than Bernie's. She was an early and vocal Bernie supporter in 2016.

@gabrielfraser2109 You have zero idea what you're talking about. There is no "state managed health insurance" in Switzerland. It's compulsory to buy insurance, but it's provided by private companies. Switzerland has made basic health insurance available across cantonical borders at a fixed non-profit price, but those companies can sell supplemental insurance at a profit, and they do. The government doesn't buy health insurance for anyone. Everyone pays minimum of 8% of their income for insurance. If that's not enough to pay the premium, the government give a cash subsidy so a person can still buy the insurance. Healthcare insurance in Switzerland and what Gabbard and the rest of the Dems are proposing couldn't be more different.
2
@gabrielfraser2109 Once again, you have no idea what you're talking about. We barely have people pulling their own weight when it comes to paying for healthcare now. Medicaid and other public insurers pay for nearly 25% of hospital care and doctor's visits. Nearly 40% is paid for by employer provided health plans. Gabbard and the rest want to stop employer paid plans for public insurance. How is this "the few who fall through the cracks"? It's a government takeover of one of the largest sectors of our society. Are you in college or something? You don't seem to know much about the real world.

Libertarians don't want to take my money and hand it out to everyone who wants it. Don't confuse a less insane Democrat with a libertarian.
2
She's just as irrational as the other Dems on most issues, just less irrational than some. It's like saying a person isn't insane because they only do crazy things on weekends.
1
@William Kiene Really? Why? I mean, other than she's not old and wrinkled up.
1
@gabrielfraser2109 Yes, and...??? That's somewhat different than providing free or mostly free healthcare for 327 million people.
