  1. Confusingly enough, there was another Type 92. This was the Imperial Japanese Navy standard flexible mount gun used in multiplace aircraft. It was indeed a direct copy of the Lewis gun. The IJN and IJA used separate procurement processes but used the same Kōki date numbering system for both services. That's how we ended up with two Tpe 92's. Thwy were referred to as the Army or Navy Type 92 to lessen the confusion.
